The Comparative Linguistic Policy Research site has two functions: to discuss current events in linguistic policy around the world and to provide tools and data for linguistic policy research.
The editor is Sharon Lunsford, a part-time researcher in the areas of language policy, political issues of indigenous peoples and related matters.
The term “language policy” has come to include not only linguistic policy, i.e. policy regarding what language is used for what function, but what might be considered common courtesy policy, i.e. refraining from using derogatory language. This project is concerned with the linguistic policy component, and you will find the terms “language policy” and “linguistic policy” used interchangeably on this site.
More about research tools and data can be found on the “About the CLIPR Project” page.
